“How To” Science Podcasts
Hi Nathan and Jane!
We finally have our “How to” science podcasts posted on our classroom blogsite (http://www.wej33.blogspot.com/)! This project was a procedural writing/reflection piece created from knowledge we gained during our trip to the Museum of Science and Technology. We attended workshops on stability and forces. The bed tracks used for the podcasts were developed as a class on a SMART board using Acid Express (thanks for that latest TLLP workshop session!). A great shared lesson integrating technology and music!
Thanks again for the PLC, my students are truly benefiting from the PD provided by you!
Cheers, back to reports!

I love the podcasts. The students explain their science very well. The expression and scripts were great. I am going to have my 5s and 6s listen. There is a lot that they can learn from your students. Congratulations.
I am jealous that you were able to use a smartboard to do acid express. It is such a visual program I am sure it worked really well. You were brave to write music “by committee”.

@Jane Smith,
Thanks Jane for the kind comments. We actually listened to a few of your (and Nathan’s) student podcasts to help us as well!
The students are beginning to be able to do more and more on their own. I love the SMART board for demonstrating new software and getting students involved at the board. It also helps reduce time in the lab explaining and captures their attention better than when they have a mouse at their fingertips! As well, I inevitably learn something from my savvy students in how to do something different or better.
The shared music part was great because we could really focus and vote as a class on the loops that best suited the project. Some decisions were not made easily but made none the less. Maybe next time I will have them in groups or 4 or 5 to develop a few tracks they could choose from…
